Do it Yourself Pest Control Tips-HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We at First Response Pest Control want to wish everyone a happy and safe new year. As the year winds down and like others I like to take time to reflect on all the hard work my team put into making 2017 a successful year. We will strive even harder to maintain your trust and loyalty making First Response Pest Control our communities number 1 pest control company.

As the temperature drops, pest will also want to enjoy the warmth that your home provides. Several pest have life cycles that are longer than a year; i.e. rats, mice, cockroaches and even some spiders. So, you may have unwanted guest as they seek shelter from the elements.

In preparation for the New Year, here are a few tips on keeping your home and business pest free.

[if !supportLists]1. [endif]Inspect the perimeter of your home or business; looking for entry points for both rodents and insects. Look for places where limbs or branches may be touching the structure. Check your screens and weather-stripping, this includes the garage door. After inspecting, take action!

[if !supportLists]a. [endif] Seal cracks and crevices using caulking or steel wool, this is both very effective and affordable. Remember to focus on utility pipes, ac lines and exterior hose bibs. Some rodents can squeeze through opening no bigger than a dime.

[if !supportLists]b. [endif]Trim branches and shrubbery back from the home and the roof line; don’t for get to rake the leaves removing nesting sites. Make sure your firewood is stored on a rack and at least 20 feet away from the structure.

[if !supportLists]c. [endif]Repair or replace missing or damaged screens; don’t forget your attic vents and chimney openings.

[if !supportLists]d. [endif]Make sure all weather-stripping is functioning as intended; if not, repair or replace.

[if !supportLists]e. [endif]Avoid leaving pet food and water dishes out; human or pet food…Pest don’t discriminate. This is true about your BBQ as well, make sure it is stored clean.

[if !supportLists]f. [endif]Make sure your garbage cans seal properly.

[if !supportLists]g. [endif]Don’t forget about the doggie dog…Highland Village has more to offer than just a Great Family Community. Being this close to the lake we not only have the usual pest such as rodents, ants and spiders…..we also have Racoons, Opossums, Foxes, Coyotes and my favorite the Armadillo.
